@Xavier B. Good question. Yes, a lot of these things can be done with blogs and wikis. Or even with many other standard software applications. A difference for me is the ease of use of microblogging/microsharing application. A good test case is: take two project communities. Give one project community a blog, and give the other project community a microblog. Even if both application are used there will be a difference in the type of information which will be covered. Reason: microblogs offer a more rich contextual baseline, very close to the flow of real work (what people are saying, sharing, doing and working on) and with the possibility of being a part of something.

Do blogs and wikis loose the role for knowledge sharing, context sharing and collective intelligence? I think no. Microinformation is often only a starting point for a action in a blog or a wiki. Or vice versa.

Da Deutsch nicht meine Muttersprache ist, möchte ich mein Kommentar auf Englisch schreiben. Ich verstehe wohl Deutsch, schreiben ist aber leider komplizierter … ;o)

I still feel uneasy with the use of microblogging (micro-sharing, you name it) in the enterprise.

As far as I understand, the examples given in this article could be as easily tackled with a blog or a wiki … In my opinion, the information would even be used / searched more easily …

This being said, I have never been able to witness microblogging in a company (the concept of Enterprise 2.0 is not even in its infancy in Belgium yet), so it’s even harder to tell …

Does anybody have links to good examples?
